Makashvili Wine Cellar traces its history back to the 15th Century when a family of Georgian princes, Makashvili, founded their winery. Makashvili wines were enjoyed in royal courts, however, after multiple wars, the winery gradually fell into disrepair. Fast forward to 2012, Makashvili marani (wine cellar) was rediscovered and restored. Today, the winery is famed for preserving Georgian winemaking traditions and crafting outstanding qvevri wines – made in centuries-old amphorae.
