Convento da Vila Branco is the fruit of labour of one of Portugal's benchmark cooperatives, Adega de Borba. The cooperative was founded over 60 years ago, from the coming together of thirteen Alentejo winegrowers. Since then, the mission remains unchanged: promoting the Alentejo region and its unique grapes. Convento da Vila wine range emerged as a tribute to Servas Convent. Located in Borba, it is one of the most admirable monuments of the town’s historic zone.

Adega de Borba

Adega de Borba is found in the region of Alentejo, in southern Portugal. Founded in 1955 by thirteen local producers, it quickly became one of Portugal's benchmark cooperatives. Today, Adega de Borba brings together 300 grape growers who cultivate nearly 2,000 hectares of grapes. Since its foundation, the quality of wines has only been improving, while the cooperative's mission remains unchanged: promoting the Alentejo region and its unique grapes.

Fernao Pires

This aromatic grape variety is grown throughout Portugal and loved for its gorgeous notes of exotic fruit, lemon zest, orange blossom, honeysuckle and spice. Sensitive to frost, the grape performs best in southern Portugal, particularly in the regions of Ribatejo, Lisboa and Bairrada. Fernao Pires is not an easy variety to handle and needs to be picked at the right time, before the acidity levels drop.
