Description

This is a gorgeously aromatic orange wine from one of the most renowned organic producers of northern Greece. Chatzivaritis Ni Malagouzia Orange reveals charming aromas of orange zest and orange marmalade, apricots, flowers and hints of caramel. Delicate earthy notes balance the sweetness of aromas. Full-bodied, fresh, with smooth tannins, it shows an amazing concentration of flavours on the palate, followed by a long finish.

Chatzivaritis Ni Malagouzia Orange was made following the traditional technique. The wine was foot stomped, wildly fermented in amphorae with no additions, remaining on skins for one month. It was further matured in old French oak barrels and bottled unfined and unfiltered to preserve the purity of aromas. Pair this stunner of a wine with flavourful cuisines, such as Moroccan, Indian or Korean.

Malagousia

One of the most acclaimed Greek grapes, Malagousia makes world class aromatic white wines. This indigenous white grape is largely associated with the country’s wine renaissance. Malagousia is an ancient variety, supposedly originating from Central Greece. By the 1970s Malagousia plantings became almost extinct. The grape was revived thanks to the work of university professors and some of the top growers.
