Diamantis Xinomavro Magoutes 2017
This refined, elegant Xinomavro is crafted by a small boutique producer from Siatista in north-western Macedonia. Diamantis is known for reviving this ancient, but forgotten wine region. The grapes for Diamantis Xinomavro are sourced from old vines, grown on rocky limestone soils at altitudes up to 950 metres above sea level. The wine opens up with captivating aromas of currants and cherries, sweet spices and delicate herbal notes. Powerful tannins and ample freshness suggest that the wine will age gracefully in the bottle.
Finely balanced, Diamantis Xinomavro is a unique, mid-weight expression of this ancient grape. The wine reflects the quality of the finest selected vineyards of the region. Wildly fermented and bottled unfined and unfiltered, it preserves the grape aromas in their purest form.Â

Amy Wislocki, Decanter Magazine, 91 points:
Dimitris Diamantis is working to revive the appellation of Siatista in northern Greece, where his Xinomavro vines grow at altitudes of up to 900m on rocky limestone soils. There is discernible oak influence here – the wine spends 12 months in 500L old oak barrels – but it’s integrated well, balancing the savoury, tomato and red fruit aromas and flavours, and good acidity. Only 15,000 bottles made.
Tasting pannel, Decanter Magazine, 89 points:
Expressive nose with floral and herbal notes. Elegant and approachable palate with a moderate finish. This is a stylish expression of Xinomavro.
