Description

One of the boldest projects of the Bulgarian wine scene, Georgiev & Milkov reinvent native grapes with their unconventional approach to winemaking. Georgiev & Milkov Rubin was handpressed for a gentle extraction of tannins and aromas. The wine was fermented in small tanks and aged in Bulgarian and French oak barrels.

The result is an elegant and fresh wine with juicy flavours of cherries, raspberries and plums. These are enhanced by exquisite notes of coffee, chocolate and fine cigars. On the palate, Georgiev & Milkov Handpressed Rubin is equally lush and flavourful. Ripe, velvety tannins are supported by ample freshness. A truly refined red, beautiful on its own, or when paired with venison, game, truffles or mushrooms.

Georgiev & Milkov

Long time friends and oenologists Petar Georgiev and Radostin Milkov gained their experience working at wineries around the world, from Austria to New Zealand. In 2014 they joined forces to create one of the most exciting projects of the Bulgarian wine scene. Geogiev and Milkov combine fresh ideas and a modern approach with respect for the local winemaking traditions and the indigenous grapes.

Rubin

One of the most exciting Bulgarian grapes, Rubin makes refined red wines with a robust structure. The variety was created in the 1940’s by crossing  Nebbiolo and Syrah grapes. For quite a long period of time, Rubin has been used to produce mostly sweet wines. In the last decade Bulgarian winemakers turned their attention to dry wines made of Rubin.
