Description

An impressively elegant expression of Mavrud, Bulgaria's trademark indigenous grape, this wine greets you with gorgeous aromas of blueberries, black currants, plums and sweet spices. On the palate, Georgiev & Milkov Novi Izvor Mavrud is well-balanced, with generous berry and plums flavours wrapped around a core of firm tannins and ample freshness.

The grapes come from a single parcel of 40 year old vines located near the village of Novi Izvor in the region of Assenovgrad, known to be the birthplace of the Mavrud grape. After a manual harvest and a careful selection the grapes were wildly fermented in temperature controlled steel tanks, followed by ageing in 40% Bulgarian and 60% French oak barrels for 10 months. Georgiev & Milkov Novi Izvor Mavrud makes a great match to delicate meat, game, venison or Iberian pork.
