Description

This delightful Pet Nat is crisp and fresh, with charming notes of green apples, pears, along with hints of bruised apples and herbs from the prolonged contact with the skin. Low on alcohol and with summer-inspiring flavours, it is a great wine to enjoy as an aperitif or to pair with seafood, fish and salads.

The grapes for Georgiev & Milkov Pet Nat Skin Contact NV come from 70 year old vineyards in Thracian Valley, one of Bulgaria's oldest winemaking regions. Two vintages, 2019 and 2020 were blended together to create this elegant, well-balanced, light sparkling. The 2019 vintage spent over a month in contact with the grapes skins and about a year in oak barrels, resulting in a gorgeous golden colour and complex aromas. The 2020 vintage was wildly fermented without any skin contact and blended with the reserve 2019 wine while the fermentation was still in progress. The wine was bottled at the last stage of fermentation leading to delicate fizz and a slightly creamy texture.

Georgiev & Milkov

Long time friends and oenologists Petar Georgiev and Radostin Milkov gained their experience working at wineries around the world, from Austria to New Zealand. In 2014 they joined forces to create one of the most exciting projects of the Bulgarian wine scene. Geogiev and Milkov combine fresh ideas and a modern approach with respect for the local winemaking traditions and the indigenous grapes.

Red Misket

Interestingly, Red Misket is actually a white grape. It does however have a pinkish skin which is reflected by the grape's name. A unique Bulgarian aromatic variety, it makes charming white wines with rich floral aromas, such as notes of roses, violets and blossom, complemented by hints of tropical and stone fruits. Red Misket wines are full-bodied and fresh, with well-balanced flavours. Despite the name similarities, this grape is not related to other Bulgarian Misket varieties.
