Havlabari Cellars Saperavi 2021
This charming wine is made of the most famous Georgian indigenous grape variety, Saperavi, which is often referred to as 'hero grape'. Saperavi is one of only a handful of grapes worldwide with highly pigmented red flesh as well as skins. Even the name of the grape translates as ‘to dye’. Saperavi makes characterful wines of dark, opaque colour. Havlabari Cellars Saperavi is a precise and pure expression of this grape. This stylish fruit-forward wine effortlessly combines seductively sweet aromas of morello cherries and chocolate with a refreshing acidity on the palate.
Havlabari Cellars Saperavi comes from old vines, grown in the Kakheti region in south-eastern Georgia. These naturally low-yielding vines produce high quality grapes with concentrated aromas. The result is a lush, juicy wine with a long finish.

Carla Capalbo, Decanter Magazine, 90 points (2018 vintage):
Made in stainless steel, this is a clean, more modern take on the classic ruby red Kakhetian variety. Not overly extracted, it’s got supple tannins and a fresh, peppery note on the nose. Very drinkable. Drinking Window 2021 – 2026.
Julia Harding, Master of Wine:
“Unoaked. Deep crimson. Rich, spicy and dark-red-fruited. Juicy, finely textured, with dry but smooth tannins. Easy, delicious; focus on the fruit.”
