Description

This silky medium-bodied red comes from a long-established family winery in Attica. Agiorgitiko is a very ancient Greek grape. In fact, legend has it that Hercules drank Agiorgitiko wine after slaying the Nemean lion. Kokotos Three Hills Agiorgitiko wine has an appealing fruity character. It opens with a bouquet of red plums, strawberries, morello cherries, and charming notes of roses and violets. Well balanced on the palate, with supple tannins and a delicious fruity aftertaste, this wine is an absolute crowd-pleaser.

The grapes for Kokotos Three Hills Agiorgitiko were handpicked and handsorted. The wine was fermented in stainless steel in controlled temperatures. Extraction lasted for 18 days. This fruity, smooth red is a great companion to flavourful Asian and Middle-Eastern dishes, such as lamb curry, tagine and kebabs.

Kokotos

Located in one of the most picturesque parts of Attica, on the slopes of Mount Pendeli, Kokotos winery makes delicious fruit-driven wines of great value and consistent quality. The terroir here is excellent for growing high quality grapes. The vines are planted at an altitude of 450 metres. The soil is poor in organic matter, made up of limestone and slate. The winery stands at the highest point of the estate, with gorgeous panoramic views.

Agiorgitiko

Agiorgitiko is the most widely planted black grape in Greece. This variety is native to the Nemea region of the Peloponnese, but it is also quite popular in Attica and Macedonia. The name ‘Agiorgitiko’ translates as ‘St. George’s grape’, possibly referring to the chapel of Saint George in Nemea. Nicknamed as ‘Blood of Hercules’, this popular Greek variety makes exceptional full-bodied red wines.
