Description

Krakhuna is a rare grape, indigenous to western Georgia. In local dialect, the name of this grape means 'crisp' referring to the wine's vivid character. Makashvili Krakhuna Qvevri is an expressive orange wine with rich aromas of quince, yellow apple, grapefruit peel as well as elegant notes of wild flowers. On the palate, it is fresh and flavourful, with vibrant acidity and soft tannins.

Makashvili Krakhuna Qvevri was made according to the ancient Georgian winemaking traditions. After the manual harvest, grapes were placed into big clay amphorae, qvevri, which are several centuries old. The grape juice was fermented with the skins and the fermentation happened naturally, with no addition of artificial yeast of SO2. The wine was further aged in qvevri. Pair this wine with flavourful Chinese or Korean dishes, as well as with any kind of fish, poultry or roasted vegetables.
