Description

This is a gorgeous natural sparkling rose wine from Slovenia's young winemaking talent, Matija Žerjav. Matic Mea Pet Nat Rose greets with its beautiful light pink glimmer in the glass. It has an exceptionally fresh nose featuring cut citrus fruit, spring flowers, and fresh cut grass. On the palate, it is delightfully fruity, with a lemon - lime note and a beautiful streak of acidity, so common for all Matic's wines.

Matija Žerjav has breathed a new life into his family's vineyards, that were established in 1852. He follows biodynamic principles both in the vineyard and in the cellar.  Matic Mea Pet Nat Rose NV wine is comprised of 100% Blaufrankisch grape variety and produced in a very limited quantity.

Wine Origins

Slovenia

Slovenian wine, particularly white and orange, is trending across the world. The wine region of Primorska, which includes Brda and Vipava Valley, is a true gem of the European wine map. Set between the Adriatic coast and the Alps, it is a gorgeous landscape of rolling hills and terraced vineyards. Primorska shares a border with Italy’s Collio. Historically both regions were part of one Slovenian-speaking area. Grapes grown in Primorska and north-eastern Italy are similar, however wines are distinctively different.

Matic

Matija Žerjav, known as Matic to his friends, is one Slovenia's youngest winemaking talents. Having taken over his family vineyards at the age of 24, he quickly earned a reputation for his expressive natural wines. Matic' 9 hectares of vineyards are found in Starjerska region, in north-eastern Slovenia. He cultivates his vines organically and biodynamically and the resulting wines truly express the land, as well as the personality of the winemaker.
