Mildiani Bouquet Qvevri Tsaraphi 2014
This refined orange wine was made in Georgian qvevri - traditional clay amphorae. According to the tradition, in qvevri, the grape juice is fermented together with the grape skins. Because of this, the wine gains body, tannins and obtains a beautiful orange hue. Mildiani Bouquet Qvevri Tsaraphi is a complex, single vineyard wine, coming from an old vines parcel in Kakheti region. The grape behind this wine is Rkatsiteli, Georgia's most acclaimed white variety.
After qvevri fermentation, Mildiani Bouquet Qvevri Tsaraphi was aged in French oak. Therefore, the tannins are smooth and the balance is impeccable. Complex aromas of ripe apples, apricots, honey, dried orange peel, spices and almonds are enhanced by subtle notes of apple cider. Try this wine with Korean dishes with fermented kimchi or with flavourful Middle Eastern food, such as Moroccan lamb tagine.Â

Julia Harding, Master of Wine:
“Deep, orangey gold. Spicy, barley-sugar (a British hard candy) aroma. Marked, chewy tannins – really tannic, but shot through with sour-apricot fruit. Sour, powerful aftertaste. A little bit aggressive without food. Will clearly continue to age in the bottle.”
