Georgia is historically famous for its off-dry and medium sweet wines. The grapes for these wines are picked later than usual, when sugar levels are peaking. Khvanchkara is arguably the most iconic Georgian medium sweet red, which has gained a cult following world-wide. Mildiani Khvanchkara 2018 is an elegant wine with pleasant delicate sweetness on the palate, balanced by ample freshness. Charming aromas of ripe cherries, raspberries and plums are followed by distinctive notes of violets - trademark of a good Khvanchkara.

Mildiani Khvanchkara creates great pairings with desserts, however it is marvellous when paired with savoury food. Try it with a cheese board or with a spicy lamb curry and watch the food flavours being taken to a whole new level.

Mildiani Family Winery

Owned by four brothers, this winery has been the driving force of modern Georgian winemaking since the 1990s. One of the first privately owned wine estates in the country, Mildiani take credit for reviving the qvevri tradition and for bringing international fame to Georgian orange wines. Today this benchmark estate boasts a collection of vineyards across the country and remains family-owned.

Aleksandrouli

Aleksandrouli is a rare Georgian indigenous grape variety. It is the backbone of the famous Georgian Khvanchkara – an iconic late harvest semi-sweet wine with elegant violet and ripe raspberry scents, velvety texture and a perfect balance of sweetness and acidity. Aleksandrouli grape is also used in dry red blends making fragrant wines with robust structure.
