Description

This rich and harmonious orange wine was made of the white grape, Kisi, which was fermented with the skins in traditional Georgian qvevri (clay amphorae). Qvevri winemaking is a very ancient, Georgian method. Because of the prolonged contact with the skins, Mildiani Qvevri Limited Edition Kisi gained a beautiful deep amber colour. It also acquired a full body, as well as firm tannins. To tame the powerful character, this Kisi was kept in the cellar for a very long time. In fact, it spent as long as 6 years in the bottles before being released!

The result is a beautifully harmonious amber wine with soft tannins and honeyed aromas of apricots, mango, lime and oranges, complemented by elegant hints of mint and walnuts. Ripe and sweet bouquet is nicely contrasted by a fresh palate. Mildiani Qvevri Limited Edition Kisi is perfectly enjoyable on its own and can be matched with a variety of dishes.

Julia Harding, Master of Wine:

“Deep, orangey gold. Intense bitter-orange nose. Powerful tannins dominate and really need food. Deep, dry, long, demanding.”
