Description

This outstanding limited edition wine comes from a high altitude single vineyard in Kakheti region. Incredibly refined, this wine is a combination of the best Georgian and international winemaking techniques. Mildiani Qvevri Limited Edition Saperavi was fermented in Georgian qvevri (clay amphorae). It was then aged in French oak, and further matured in bottles for 6 years in the winery cellar. The result is an exquisite wine with well developed and complex aromas of dried and jammy dark cherries, cranberries, prunes, raisins, figs, walnuts, as well as elegant notes of leather, tobacco, dark chocolate and spices.

Mildiani Qvevri Limited Edition Saperavi captivates the palate with soft tannins, rich and velvety texture and a long finish. This is a unique release and one of the finest expressions of Saperavi grape.

Mildiani Family Winery

Owned by four brothers, this winery has been the driving force of modern Georgian winemaking since the 1990s. One of the first privately owned wine estates in the country, Mildiani take credit for reviving the qvevri tradition and for bringing international fame to Georgian orange wines. Today this benchmark estate boasts a collection of vineyards across the country and remains family-owned.

Saperavi

Saperavi is one of the most ancient Georgian varieties. It is the flagship of Georgian winemaking, often being referred to as “hero grape”. Saperavi makes some of the best Georgian reds, both dry and sweet. These wines are incredibly rich and powerful, with grippy tannins, lively acidity and extensive range of  flavours. They are notoriously dark and have a tremendous ageing potential.
