Tsinandali is a micro-zone, a.k.a. appellation, in the Kakheti region of Georgia. It is famed for its fresh and crisp white wines made of the acclaimed Rkatsiteli grape, with a small addition of Mtsvane. If you like Chablis, Muscadet or Pinot Grigio, then Tsinandali may easily become your next favourite. Mildiani Tsinandali is an outstanding example of this wine style. It opens with aromas of fresh grapes, quince and wild flowers. As a well-crafted Tsinandali, it tickles your palate with vibrant acidity and leaves a mouth full of juicy flavours.

Owned by four brothers, this winery has been the driving force of modern Georgian winemaking since the 1990s. One of the first privately owned wine estates in the country, Mildiani take credit for reviving the qvevri tradition and for bringing international fame to Georgian orange wines. Today this benchmark estate boasts a collection of vineyards across the country and remains family-owned.

Rkatsiteli

Rkatsiteli is a white grape variety from the Georgian region of Kakheti. It is one of the most ancient grape varieties in Georgia. Legend has it that Rkatsiteli was the first vine planted by Noah after the flood. Today it is the most cultivated variety in the country. Rkatsiteli makes light and crisp whites, as well as complex full-bodied qvevri wines.
