Description

Tvishi appellation in western Georgia is historically known for its delicate naturally sweet wines. These wines are made of the rare indigenous Tsolikouri grape. The grapes are usually harvested later in the season, when the sugar levels are peaking. Mildiani Tvishi is a charming wine with a touch of sweetness. It enchants with an array of ripe fruit aromas: apricots, quince, pears, melon, along with subtle floral hints.

If you like sweeter styles of Riesling or Chenin Blanc, Mildiani Tvishi will be a real treat for your palate. While traditionally paired with fruit and desserts, it works wonders when matched with sweet and sour Chinese dishes, Thai curries and other spicy food.

Mildiani Family Winery

Owned by four brothers, this winery has been the driving force of modern Georgian winemaking since the 1990s. One of the first privately owned wine estates in the country, Mildiani take credit for reviving the qvevri tradition and for bringing international fame to Georgian orange wines. Today this benchmark estate boasts a collection of vineyards across the country and remains family-owned.

Tsolikouri

Tsolikouri is considered to be amongst the most promising white varieties in the country. Widely planted in the west, throughout Imereti and Guria, it makes full-bodied white wines with layers and layers of fruity and floral flavours.Tsolikouri is often fermented on the skins in traditional Georgian qvevri making rich orange wines. In Tvishi appellation, Tsolikouri is used for late harvest medium sweet wines.
