Mylonas Malagousia 2024

Description

Malagousia is an ancient indigenous Greek variety which makes excellent, highly aromatic wines. Mylonas have created an elegant expression of this grape, somewhat more delicate than your usual Malagousia, but with all the beautiful varietal aromas present in the wine. Notes of ripe stone fruit, such as peaches and mangoes are combined with hints of spring flowers and aromatic herbs. The palate is rich, with vivid acidity and a lemony aftertaste.

The grapes have been sourced from 45-50 years old vines with extremely low yields. Mylonas Malagousia spent three months on lees, obtaining a round palate and a mouth-coating feel. Great match for Greek meze, seafood pasta and risotto, vegetable pies and artichokes.

Peter Richards MW, Decanter Magazine, 89 points:

Greek wine totally deserves a place on your summer table and this perfumed, exotic Malagousia is a great point of departure. It has that wonderful Greek ability to marry striking scents (here, orange pith, rose petal and fresh grapes) with a dry, invigorating, mineral and food-friendly palate profile. Get that calamari on the BBQ.
