Old Bridge Grand Reserve Areni Noir 2013
This refined expression of Areni Noir, a.k.a. 'the king of Armenian grapes', comes from one of the top boutique producers in Armenia. Old Bridge Grand Reserve Areni Noir 2013 is an elegant, complex wine. It opens up with lush aromas of fresh cherries and blackberries, followed by inviting notes of coffee, chocolate, spice and smoke. The palate is smooth and harmonious, with silky tannins and long finish.
The grapes have been sourced from vineyards grown at extreme altitudes - up to 1,450 metres above sea level. Old Bridge Grand Reserve Areni Noir 2013 spent 24 months in Armenian oak barrels, followed by further maturation in the bottle. The wine is perfectly enjoyable now, yet it will evolve beautifully in the cellar. Old Bridge Areni Noir wines are famed for their depth, complexity and tremendous ageing potential.

Caroline Gilby MW, Decanter Magazine, 89 points:
This wine comes from a tiny family estate founded in 1998 and named after a historic bridge close to their vineyards. Husband and wife Armen (a project manager) and Ashken (a doctor) produce this wine from 3.5ha of Areni grown at over 1,200m, close to the famous Areni-1 cave. It’s been aged in Caucasian oak for 24 months, producing a complex, layered wine with notes of black plum, leather and balsam, then an elegant palate with great freshness and length.
