Description

This characterful Bulgarian Cabernet Franc opens up with juicy aromas of fresh morello cherries, cranberries and red currants, as well as subtle notes of raisins and prunes. These fruit delights are elegantly spiced up by notes of black and white pepper. Hints of cloves and mint enrich the bouquet. On the palate, Orbelia Via Aristotelis Cabernet Franc is lush and fruity. At the same time it has a savoury character, with notes of mushrooms, smoke and cedar wood.

This elegant wine was aged for 12 months in a mixture of French and American oak barrels. It is a gorgeous example of Cabernet Franc and an extremely food friendly one too. We suggest pairing Orbelia Via Aristotelis Cabernet Franc with matured cheeses, mushrooms, charcuterie, game or any kinds of delicate meat.

Orbelia

Orbelia is a family-run winery founded in 2013 by a Bulgarian entrepreneur, Kostadin Chorbadzhiyski. The winery is located next to the village of Kolarovo at the foot of Belasitsa mountain. This part of Bulgaria has a long-standing viticultural tradition. Wines have been made here since Thracian times over 5000 years ago. Orbelia crafts expressive fruit-driven wines out of native Bulgarian, as well as international grapes.

Cabernet Franc

Described as “the feminine side of Cabernet Sauvignon”, Cabernet Franc makes wines which are fragrant, fruity and flirtatious. It is one of the noble grape varieties, most likely originating from the Spanish Basque country. By the 17th Century, the grape found its home in Bordeaux and then in Loire Valley. Nowadays Cabernet Franc plantings are found across the world.
