OuSyra Serifiotiko 2022

Prices start from £25.50 per bottle Buying options

Ran by an English-Greek couple, OuSyra winery is found on Syros island. The winery is famous for their terroir-driven wines made of unique Cycladic grape varieties. Serifiotiko is an extremely rare grape with just a handful of vineyards found across the Cyclades. OuSyra Serifiotiko comes from 35 to 80 year old vines which are ungrafted, growing on their own rootstock.

Bone dry, lean and mineral, this is a stylish expression of this rare grape, with delicate aromas of citrus and stone fruits along with subtle notes of flowers and blossom. The vineyard’s proximity to the sea brings up a refreshing minerality and salinity on the palate. Indeed, OuSyra Serifiotiko is a wine with an authentic Cycladic character.

Julia Harding, MW:

Pale lemon colour and an intense aroma of dusty, stony but clean-cut citrus. Lemon and grapefruit, as well as pear. Smells pithy. Tastes wonderfully smoky and bone dry even though there is a little touch of residual sugar – only just above the perception threshold. Sour citrus flavours have both clarity and complexity, remarkably so for an unoaked wine. Mouth-watering and slightly chewy. Real depth and interest.

Yiannis Karakasis MW:

From 40–80-year-old ungrafted vines. Whole-bunch pressed, with a few days’ cold soak and aged in inox. Tight if not downright austere white wine style, bone-dry with a steely acidity and a saline, almost seawater sensation on the finish. Like an Assyrtiko without the fruit, this makes an immediate impression with its arresting personality, a truly vertical wine.
