This slightly undervalued grape variety, grown in the south of Italy, was given a new lease of life by the Renegade Urban Winery team. Nero Di Troia wines are often chewy, bold and too tannic, however this example is quite the opposite. Renegade Courtney Nero Di Troia has much more of a Pinot Noir-esque elegance. Medium bodied, soft and silky it shows beautiful, pure aromas of cherries, raspberries, strawberries, as well as hints of violets and cardamon. A really juicy, moorish wine suitable for both food as well as drinking on it's own.

The grapes for Renegade Courtney Nero Di Troia were hand picked at organic vineyards in Puglia, Italy. They were immediately shipped in refrigerated trucks directly to the urban winery in the heart of London. Each label of Renegade wines shows the eyes of a different person who lives in the UK. Everyone can apply to be on the label. Courtney is a freelance chef who lives in South London.

Nero di Troia

This little known grape from Puglia, southern Italy, has been receiving growing attention across the world. According to the legend, after defeating the city of Troy, the ancient hero, Diomedes, travelled to southern Italy where he founded Troia in Foggia province. He planted vine cuttings brought with him from Greece, just outside the city walls, where it still thrives today. Nero di Troia makes concentrated lush wines with flavours of ripe fruit and a robust structure.
