Description

This fresh, aromatic orange wine greets you with delightful notes of elderflowers, jasmine and white peach. On the palate, it is light and delicate, with a perfect balance of tannins and acidity: a real summer treat. The wine was made in the most natural way possible: the grapes were hand sorted and gently destemmed by hand, to reduce skin breakage. Wild fermentation took place in Georgian qvevri, a large clay amphora. After the fermentation, grapes spent further 4 months on the skins before being pressed and transferred back into qvevri for ageing. Renegade Rahul Skin Contact Bacchus was bottled unfined and unfiltered, with only a tiny amount of sulphur, hence the wine is slightly hazy.

Each label of Renegade wines shows the eyes of a different person who lives in the UK. Everyone can apply to be on the label. Rahul is a researcher who lives in North London.

Bacchus

England's answer to Sauvignon Blanc, Bacchus is an aromatic white grape, making bright and fresh white wines with plenty of aromas. Bacchus is a relatively young grape. It was created in Germany in 1933 by crossing other local varieties – Muller-Thurgau and another cross, Riesling-Silvaner. However Bacchus did not have much luck in his motherland, Germany, where Riesling reigns all the best vineyard sites. Instead, the new grape found its second home in England.
