Rikars Davit Areni Noir 2018
Rikars is a young and highly promising Armenian-Italian wine project. An Italian winemaker, Federico Renzi, has brought the international expertise and is successfully combining it with the local Armenian traditions. Rikars work exclusively with the indigenous Areni Noir grape, exploring its various expressions. For their Rikars Davit Areni Noir, the grapes are fermented in concrete tanks, followed by ageing in Armenian oak barrels.
The result is a deep and harmonious wine which opens up with layers of aromas of fresh cherries, mint, eucalyptus, spices, as well as exquisite notes of chocolate, coffee and smoke. On the palette, Rikars Davit Areni Noir is fresh, with vibrant acidity, silky texture and soft, well-integrated tannins.

Tom Mullen, Forbes
“Co-founder Riccardo Gagliardi and assisting oenologist Silva Atoyan created this wine that aged for 14 months in Caucasian oak. The aromas include buckets of blackberries and juniper and the taste shouts of cherries.”
Julia Harding, Master of Wine
“Mid ruby. Fragrant with dark-red fruit, inviting. Juicy, sweet and sour cherry, a lovely bit of freshness and fine, well-defined, tannins are well balanced with the depth of fruit. Youthfully mouth-watering.”
