Description

This fresh, fruit-forward wine reveals lush notes of red berries, followed by a rich, well-structured palate with soft, velvety tannins and a pleasant finish. Saperavi is Georgia's most loved black grape which typically makes full-bodied red wines with ample fruit flavours, as well as hints of spices and chocolate. Vaziani Saperavi is a stunning expression of this grape, a wine of generous character both on the nose and on the palate.

Grapes were sourced from vineyards located at an altitude of 480 metres above sea level, in the ancient wine region of Kakheti (south-eastern Georgia). Manual harvest was followed by a rigorous grape selection and fermentation in stainless steel. Vaziani Saperavi is a great match for grilled meat, steaks, bean stews and other hearty dishes.

Vaziani

This family-run winery was established in 1982 in Kakheti – the oldest and the most prominent Georgian wine region. Since then, the winery had been passed to the next generation and is now run by the founder's sons, Irakli, Mikhail and Barbale Iashvili. Vaziani winery tends 120 hectares of vineyards on the left bank of the Alazani river. The winery's focus on modern, fruit-forward wines made of native Georgian grapes brought them international recognition and multiple wine awards.

Saperavi

Saperavi is one of the most ancient Georgian varieties. It is the flagship of Georgian winemaking, often being referred to as “hero grape”. Saperavi makes some of the best Georgian reds, both dry and sweet. These wines are incredibly rich and powerful, with grippy tannins, lively acidity and extensive range of  flavours. They are notoriously dark and have a tremendous ageing potential.
