Description

Saperavi wine is known to perform incredibly well with both barrel and bottle ageing, as with time it obtains a gorgeously silky texture and a more complex bouquet. Vaziani Saperavi Reserve only proves this point. This exquisite wine reveals layers of aromas of blueberries, blackberries and plums, as well as subtle notes of sweet spices. With smooth, silky tannins and a myriad of berry flavours, the palate is truly luxurious.

Grapes were sourced from vineyards located at altitudes of 480 metres above sea level, in the ancient wine region of Kakheti, south-eastern Georgia. Manual harvest was followed by a rigorous grape selection. Destemed grapes were gently pressed and fermented in stainless steel, followed by ageing in old French oak barrels for 8-12 months. Vaziani Saperavi Resesrve is a great match for pork, grilled meat, steaks, bean stews and other hearty dishes.

Vaziani

This family-run winery was established in 1982 in Kakheti – the oldest and the most prominent Georgian wine region. Since then, the winery had been passed to the next generation and is now run by the founder's sons, Irakli, Mikhail and Barbale Iashvili. Vaziani winery tends 120 hectares of vineyards on the left bank of the Alazani river. The winery's focus on modern, fruit-forward wines made of native Georgian grapes brought them international recognition and multiple wine awards.

Saperavi

Saperavi is one of the most ancient Georgian varieties. It is the flagship of Georgian winemaking, often being referred to as “hero grape”. Saperavi makes some of the best Georgian reds, both dry and sweet. These wines are incredibly rich and powerful, with grippy tannins, lively acidity and extensive range of  flavours. They are notoriously dark and have a tremendous ageing potential.
