Voskevaz Karasi Collection Hakhtanak Vieille Vignes 2015
Voskevaz is Armenia’s oldest and most prominent winery. It was one of the first producers to revive the Armenian tradition of winemaking in karases - large clay amphorae. Their Karasi collection is an exquisite range of wines, made following this ancient method. Voskevaz Karasi Collection Hakhtanak 2015 is a deep, full-bodied red. The grape behind it, Hakhtanak is an ancient Armenian indigenous variety, renowned for its powerful, masculine wines. After karas fermentation the wine was aged in new Armenian oak barrels, to smoothen the tannins.
Big and bold, Voskevaz Karasi Collection Hakhtanak 2015 is a kind of wine that makes a statement. Pronounced aromas of black plum, blueberries, spices, hints of toast and coffee are followed by elegant smokiness. The tannins are grippy, yet well integrated and the balance is impeccable. Enjoy it now or cellar it for decades.

Julia Harding, Master of Wine
“Deep crimson. Dark and spicy like the 2018 and less earthy. Powerful, savoury and dark with masses of firm, chewy tannins that need food – much more so than the Areni Noir Karasi Collection wines. Chewy but polished tannins. Deep and long.”
