Voskevaz Karasi Collection Voskehat Vieille Vignes 2015

Voskevaz is Armenia’s oldest and most prominent winery. It was one of the first producers to revive the Armenian tradition of winemaking in  karases - large clay amphorae. Their Karasi collection is an exquisite range of wines, made following this ancient method. Voskevaz Karasi Collection Voskehat is a rich, full-bodied white. It was fermented in karases with parts of grape skins, which added to the complexity and took the aromas to a new level. Notes of apricot, peach and honey are coupled with inviting hints of toast and brioche.

The grapes for Voskevaz Karasi Collection Voskehat have been sourced from over 60 year old vines grown on volcanic soils. Complex and vibrant this wine will captivate your mind and your palate. The wine shows an excellent ageing potential and the older vintages are rare and extremely thought after by those in the know.

Caroline Gilby MW, Decanter Magazine, 92 points:

“Voskevaz is a former Soviet-era winery acquired in 2004, focussing on local grapes. This Voskehat is from 50- to 60-year-old vines and was matured in antique Armenian Karas collected from nearby villages, made under the guidance of a German and Armenian husband-and-wife winemaking team. It has inviting aromas of pear and apple blossom with lovely purity, flavours of pear, honey and a hint of acacia, gently textured with fine balancing acidity.”

Julia Harding, Master of Wine

“Has all the complexity of the 2017 plus a light cedary note of longer bottle age. Seems to have higher acidity, too, so that the freshness is derived both from texture and from grape acidity, which seems higher than in the 2017. Full, chewy and utterly distinctive with great length.”
