Description

Voskevaz is Armenia’s oldest and most prominent winery and this is one of their most distinctive white wines. This wonderfully fragrant wine is made of a rare indigenous grape, Muscat Vardabuyr. This is one of the most ancient types of Muscat in the world. In Armenian “Vardabuyr” means “aroma of roses”. Indeed, Voskevaz Vintage Muscat bursts with bright notes of tea rose petals, flowers and citrus fruit. Sweet perfumed aromas are contrasted nicely by the wine's freshness and vibrant acidity. 

The grapes for Voskevaz Vintage Muscat have been hand-harvested from 40-50 year old vines, grown at altitudes up to 1,250 metres above sea level. This unique dry Muscat is a perfect aperitif, but we just love it with spicy Asian food.

Voskevaz Winery

The oldest operating winery in Armenia, Voskevaz will soon be celebrating 100 years since its foundation. In Armenian, “Voskevaz” means "golden bunch". Once upon a time, it was Soviet Armenia’s most prestigious winery. Nowadays, Voskevaz is family-owned, producing exquisite wines of indigenous varieties. Voskevaz were among the first wineries to revive the Armenian tradition of karases, large clay amphorae.

Muscat Vardabuyr

Muscat Vardabuyr is a rare Armenian indigenous grape variety known for its striking aromas of tea rose petals, candied fruit and honey. Preliminary research suggests it to be an ancestor of Muscat Blanc a Petit Grains. It is used to produce both sweet and dry wines. The seductive sweetness of flavours is complemented by mouthwatering freshness on the palate.
