Description

This fresh and fruity red comes from northern Greece, from the historic winemaking area of Avdira. Limnio is one of the most ancient Greek grapes, mentioned by Homer. Vourvoukeli Limnio is a great wine for those who prefer lighter-bodied reds. It is full of juicy aromas of forest fruits, strawberries and raspberries, which are accompanied by seductive notes of sweet spices and cocoa. The wine was matured in French oak to round up the edges and to enhance the flavours.

On the palate, Vourvoukeli Limnio is deliciously juicy and fresh. It can be easily enjoyed on its own. At the same time, robust tannins make this wine a great companion to any meat dishes.

Vourvoukeli

Vourvoukeli Winery was founded by Nikos and Flora Vourvoukeli in 1999, in the area of Avdira, in northern Greece. Wine has been made in Avdira since ancient times. In the Byzantine era, Avdira, along with the region of Maronia, constituted one of the vineyards of Byzantium and it was here that the celebrated Pamiti wine was produced. From the start, Nikos’ vision was to restore the vineyard of Avdira to its former glory.

Limnio

Limnio is one of the most ancient indigenous Greek varieties, famous since antiquity and even mentioned by Homer. Limnio originates from the island of Lemnos, however nowadays it is mostly grown in Northern and Central Greece. It makes fresh, easy drinking light bodied reds with juicy aromas of fresh berries.
